ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (BNSc) Admission Requirements: Candidates seeking admission into the BNSc. programme of the Department of Nursing science, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences must possess the following the general entry requirements of the Bayero University Kano, as well as the minimum entry requirements for the BNSc. programme as stipulated below.

A. Entry into 100 Level

1. Candidate must pass the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with good grades in Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

2. Candidate must pass the Bayero University Kano Post-UTME/Screening examinations.

3. Candidate must pass at Credit level in 5 subjects (English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics), the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) (or approved equivalent examinations), at not more than two (2) sittings.

4. Students from the Department of Remedial Science of Bayero University must have relevant 5 ‘O’ Levels subjects and pass Remedial Examinations.

B. 200 Level Direct Entry

Candidates for Direct Entry into 200 Level are exempted from the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The candidates are in the following categories:

1) Candidates who have satisfied the Senior Secondary School Certificate requirement for admission into this University (i.e. five credits passes as stated in “A” above; and who in addition obtain passes in at least two science subjects (Biology/Zoology, Chemistry or Physics) at Advanced Level - General Certificate of Education (GCE), or Higher School Certificate (HSC), Principal Level Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Examination, or any other equivalent examination approved by the Senate of the Bayero University Kano .

2) Candidates who are holders of the RN Diploma of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria or an equivalent body or council with pass at credit level in five subjects at ‘O’ level which must include English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in not more than two sittings.

3) First Degree holders of Bayero University or any other University approved by Senate in science-based courses (e.g. Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology etc), who have passed at required Credit levels in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of WAEC or NECO, or its approved equivalents in at least five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry, as stated in “A” above.
